Last Tuesday we had our RCSCC Warspite Open House. This was an event where people interested in signing up for the Cadet Program, specifically joining the Sea Cadet Program with RCSCC Warspite could come and ask questions, eat food, look around and hear about the different opportunities the program presents and also hear from the amazing Warspite Staff and Senior Cadets. Senior Cadets along with Cadets with appointments were expected to come in their C5 uniforms (work uniforms) while other Cadets who wanted to help wore Civilian Attire.
A lot of new people signed up to join RCSCC Warspite at the Open House. Lt(N) Knoop is seen above helping someone register.
A lot of people attended the Open House, mostly people who didn't know much or even anything about the Program. This event was integral to informing the local community about the Sea Cadet Program. A field view picture of people eating food and lining up for some at the Open House.
To help with the understanding of what the Sea Cadet Program offers, multiple tables were set up to show some of the stuff Sea Cadets learn. The Cadets who were at the Seamanship Table are pictured above.
Parents could speak to Officers or Senior Cadets to clarify questions and concerns. CV Knoop, President of the K-W Navy League is seen above answering some parent's questions.
All in all, the even was a rousing success, with over 18 new cadets registered for our new training year so far!
That was a short summary of what happened at the Warspite Open House. Not only did it improve our footprint with the local community, but it let more young people aged 12 to 18 know that there was a completely free program that they could join that would open the gates to new experiences, lifelong friends, skills and connections along with an overweight bag full of memories. I do think you'll have to pay for the bag though.
Are you aged 12 to 18 looking for the journey of a lifetime or are you a parent interested in your child learning discipline, making friends and gaining skills for no cost?
