Lt(N) Eric Bremner, CD

Training Officer

Lt(N) Bremner has been involved with cadets since 1990, when he joined NLCC Newman in Sault Ste. Marie at the age of 10. While with the Navy League cadets, he attained the rank of CPO1 and was Coxswain of the corps. In 1993, Lt(N) Bremner joined RCSCC Royal Sovereign at the age of 13. During his time with Royal Sovereign, he attained the rank of CPO2 and the title of Chief of Band. He attended 4 summers of band at HMCS Ontario in Kingston, where he achieved the Master Bandsman Level, which at that time was the highest musical level available to a cadet in Canada. Lt(N) Bremner then served as a staff cadet in the music course during the summer of 1998.


In 1999, Lt(N) Bremner became a Civilian Instructor with RCSCC Royal Sovereign, serving as band officer and attended his first summer camp at HMCS Ontario as a band music instructor. In February 2000, Lt(N) Bremner was officially sworn into the Canadian Forces as an Officer. He was assigned to the Regional Cadet Music Advisor (RCMA) slate as a music clinician, judge and summer training officer. Lt(N) Bremner continued to work as a brass instructor with RCSCC Royal Sovereign band, winning many regional and provincial championships.


Lt(N) Bremner then moved to Port Hope, Ontario and continued to serve with the RCMA teaching on band courses, judging at band competitions and working at summer camps. Lt(N) Bremner served as a music instructor at both HMCS Ontario and CTC Blackdown for many summers.


In 2012, Lt(N) Bremner moved to Kitchener/Waterloo and joined RCSCC Warspite as a band officer in September of 2012 and with the help of Lt(N) Griffin took over the band at RCSCC Warpsite. During his time as the band officer, the band received many awards, won a few regional competitions and attended a provincial competition.


In February 2012, Lt(N) Bremner received his Canadian Forces Decoration for 12 years of service. In September 2013, Lt(N) Bremner official joined RCSCC Warspite as officer, serving as the supply officer. He then moved into the training officers role, executive officer and eventually in 2019 as the Commanding officer.


In the summer of 2018, Lt(N) Bremner was selected as the Officer Commanding for the Military Band Company at CTC Blackdown, where he was in charge of approximately 250 cadets and 22 adult staff. He describes the summer as "one of the most challenging, however rewarding experiences in my career".


In March of 2022, Lt(N) Bremner received the first clasp to his Canadian Forces Decoration for now 22 years of service in the Canadian Forces. Since stepping down as Commanding Officer, Lt(N) Bremner has served as Administration Officer and is currently the Training Officer for the corps.


In his civilian life, Lt(N) Bremner is a full time web developer with the University of Waterloo. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Math, also holds a Bachelor of Education and most recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Software Engineering. Lt(N) Bremner has two children, Finnley and Amelia.
